The products are processed at a company that meets the Food and Drug Administration's Good Manufacturing Practices.Native American Indians introduced this herbal combination to an early pioneer family, and the formula was passed down in the family for three generations. The reason it is called the "Black Salve" is because initially the herbs that are in the salve are red in color. Shortly after the salve is made it turns black.
